Executive Board

 

Qualifications

  • Executive Board members must be MSU students in good standing. The President must maintain a minimum 3.2 grade point average. The Vice President, Outreach Chair, Finance Chair, Marketing Chair, and Communications Chair must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Must be a current IBO member to apply.

 

About IBO & Mission Statement

  • IBO is a student-run organization at Michigan State University that helps students gain an understanding of the many aspects of International Business and provide many opportunities and resources. We are committed to making our members the innovators and core contributors in a group designed to build the skills needed in today’s global community.
  • We strive to promote a greater understanding of international business and cultural topics through student-led learning experiences.

 

Duties and Qualifications of Executive Board Members:

¨  President

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused.
  2. Oversees all other positions.
  3. Has the power to call meetings as needed.
  4. Presides over and arranges General Meetings, including setting the agenda and conducting the business of the meeting in accordance with the IBO constitution.
  5. May recommend legislation in General Meetings.
  6. Represents IBO interests to the student body, faculty, Presidents Council, and around the globe.
  7. Responsible for attending the Broad School’s President’s Council meetings.
  8. Must have fulfilled a full year term within the IBO Executive Board in order to be eligible to run for office.

¨  Vice-President

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused.
  2. Responsible for being a liaison with student services. *Student Services Manual Available
  3. Maintains Status as a Student Organization.
  4. Reserves rooms for meetings.
  5. Coordinates Sparticipation.
  6. Writes agenda for executive board meetings.
  7. Serves as IBO President in his/her absence.

¨  Finance Chair

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused.
  2. Responsible for compiling the annual IBO budget and submitting to CIBER
  3. Maintains comprehensive budget records reflecting all IBO expenditures and allocations.
  4. Keeps track of membership dues.
  5. Purchases necessary items.
  6. Submits receipts for reimbursement.
  7. Places food orders for meetings.
  8. Coordinates Case Competition.

¨  Communications Chair

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused.
  2. Records attendance at IBO meetings and turns into CIBER.
  3. Emails IBO mailing list about meetings and other events.
  4. Reads, generates, and maintains all IBO correspondence.
  5. Promotes IBO at Sparticipation, throughout the dorms and MSU buildings.
  6. Liaison with organizations within the MSU community.
  7. Orders beverages (pop & water) from CIBER for meetings.

¨  Outreach Chair

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused.
  2. Responsible for scheduling speakers for IBO meetings.
  3. Promotes IBO meetings and events on the Broad School’s plasma screens. (plasmascreen@bus.msu.edu)
  4. Recruits committee members for the production of special events
  5. Promotes IBO at Sparticipation, throughout the dorms and MSU buildings.
  6. Manages whiteboard in Broad School hallway.
  7. Liaison with Organizations outside the MSU community.

¨  Marketing Chair

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused.
  2. Develop and maintain website.
  3. Responsible for organizational marketing strategy and implementation at every level of the organization. Must submit semester marketing plan to the president by August 1 and December 15.
  4. Develop new ways to provide value to members – must generate at least one new idea for every executive meeting.
  5. Creates Facebook events and Twitter updates to promote IBO meetings and events.
  6. Develops marketing materials to enhance interest in IBO membership as well as attendance at events.
  7. Coordinate Sparticipation – create poster, flyers, and email directions and logistical information by August 15.
  8. Promote IBO meetings and events on the Broad School’s plasma screens (plasmascreen@bus.msu.edu) – must submit requests two weeks before every meeting.
  9. Survey students after every organizational meeting to ensure satisfaction with meetings and events – must present information at following executive board meeting.
  10. Evaluate other Broad student organizations and generate ideas to maintain a competitive advantage – must present on other organizations at least two times per semester.
  11. Work alongside Communications Chairman to prepare presentations for meetings.
  12. Assist Promotions Chairman in Developing and carrying out lecture presentations to promote organizational meetings.
  13. Work with Finance Chairman to create sponsorship packages.
  14. Consult with a Broad marketing professor every semester to enhance the organization’s marketing strategy – present ideas and marketing changes to executive board at the beginning and ending of every semester.
  15. Design and purchase Member and Executive Board T-shirts.
  16. Train new Marketing Chairman – must be completed before the semester begins.

¨  Activities Chair

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused.
  2. Promotes the student organization throughout campus and our community.
  3. Responsible for planning and executing philanthropic events.
  4. Responsible for planning and execution of corporate trips.
  5. Responsible for planning and execution of member activities and subcommittees.

¨  Promotions Chair

  1. Attend all IBO Executive Board and general meetings, unless excused
  2. Develop marketing materials to enhance interest in IBO membership – posters, speeches, and all other promotional materials.
  3.  Work directly with Marketing Chairman to carry out any other promotional activities.
  4. Coordinate bi-weekly booth
    a.   Reserve booth from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. the Monday before every
    general member’s meeting in the BCC.
    b.   Schedule E-board members to run booth.
    c.   In charge of making sure all required items are at the booth.
    d.   Set up booth or assigns another E-board member to set up the booth.
  5. Train new Promotions Chairman – must be completed before the semester begins.
